May We Be Like the Penguin
May we be like the penguin
holding on to what’s precious
no matter the storms, no matter the cold.
May we be like the fathers who huddle together;
warmth held in the circle, backs to the wind,
taking turns on the edges, facing the center,
life evolving protected within.
May we be like the mothers who leave determined,
no matter the hunters, no matter alone,
leaping with faith into dangerous oceans,
finding what’s needed for the long journey home.
